Happy 4th of July!

To my fellow Americans, Happy Independence day! Wherever you are in America and also to American expats around the globe.

Here we are at the National Memorial cemetery of the Pacific or more commonly known as Punchbowl. This is where my Dad rests and every time we go back to HNL, we just have to go back to Dad’s grave. This time, the colors were flying high and it was all eye candy for moi:

D shot this one… kids in a family that came to flower a grave.

Enjoy the day!

    1. Hi Mitzie,
Oh yes, we do love a good celebration!
I still have to discover Chicago one day. I have heard lots of good from there.
You can imagine that being American and far from the country, I am feeling nostalgic today.

Cheers and have a great day.

    Hey there Barb!

I’m sitting in Starbucks using their wifi, so I wanted to pop by real quick and say Happy 4th of July!

    1. Hey there Ronnie,

    YEAH…..safe and sound!

And the photos…..made me particularly solemn and a bit sad. It’s always good when that clarity of feelings come with the photo, even if it’s a ‘hard’ feeling.

How sad for the kiddos to be getting to ‘flower’ a gravesite….but what a beautiful resting place…

    1. Hi Mel,
I am sure that you can make out the dude, waving his hanky :).
i know it; despite the beauty of Punchbowl, there is always a sadness. The nation has buried many a son & daughter up on that hill.
Looking at that fam come to flower a grave, I would say that there was also happiness to be together and connecting towards their loved one.

  3. Happy belated Independence Day! July is such a festive month for us… Canada Day, Independence Day, Bastille Day…!
